Privacy Policy for Kid Monk
At Kid Monk, protecting the privacy of our users, especially children, is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding data collection, use, and parental rights, in strict compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), GDPR-K, and the Google Play Families Policy.

1. Information We Collect
We require a parent or guardian to create an account before accessing the app. We do not require or allow children up to 13 years of age to provide personal information directly. During the parent-led sign-up process, we collect:
- Parent's Full Name & Email Address: Used for account authentication, legal compliance (verifying adult consent), and account communications.
- Optional Country/Region: Parents may choose to provide their country to help personalize culturally relevant educational content. This is strictly optional and not required to use the app.
- Child's First Name: Used solely to personalize the user interface and app interactions.
- Child's Age & Grade: Used to filter and serve age-appropriate content, quickbooks, and challenges.
- Learning Preferences of the Child: Used to initialize our content recommendation engine.
We also assign internal IDs so the app can keep the right data on the right account: an internal parent account ID and an internal child profile ID. Parents sign in with email and password or Google Sign-In; they do not sign in with these IDs. Each child also has a Friend Code (Kid ID). The child can share their Friend Code or enter another child’s Friend Code in the app to add friends and use Friend Fights. These identifiers are not advertising or device identifiers, and we do not use them to track children across other apps.
Learning progress: We save which quickbooks, flashcards, and quizzes a child has started or completed, including how far they got (such as last page or last card) and related scores. This is used so they can continue in My Library and so we can personalize learning. We do not collect advertising-style analytics such as a full log of every tap.
2. How We Use Your Information
The collected data is used exclusively to operate, personalize, and improve the educational experience. We do not use this data to profile children for marketing purposes.
3. Google Play Families Policy & Device Identifiers
To ensure a safe environment, Kid Monk strictly adheres to the Google Play Families Policy:
- No Persistent Identifiers: We do not collect, use, or transmit the Android Advertising Identifier (AAID), SIM Serial, Build Serial, BSSID, MAC, SSID, IMEI, or IMSI.
- No Location Tracking: We do not request precise or approximate location permissions.
- No Personalized Advertising: We do not display personalized ads to children.
- No Payments or In-App Purchases: We do not charge users, sell subscriptions, or collect payment, purchase, or financial information.
4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Data is only shared with trusted service providers necessary to operate the app under strict confidentiality agreements. Because the app does not include billing, in-app purchases, or subscriptions, we do not share data with payment processors.
- Supabase: We use Supabase to provide database and authentication services. Supabase processes parent account information, child profile information, learning progress, and other data necessary to operate the app.
- Google Sign-In: If a parent chooses Sign in with Google, Google processes that parent’s Google account identity so we can create or sign in to their Kid Monk account. Children cannot sign in with Google. We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics, or advertising products.
- Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare R2 storage to host and deliver educational images and similar content files. These files do not include parent login credentials.
5. Data Retention, Parental Rights, and Deletion
Data Retention: We retain the collected personal information only for as long as the parent's account remains active.
Parents retain full control over their account data. You have the right to:
- Review the personal information collected.
- Update or correct the information.
- Withdraw consent and request the immediate deletion of your account and all associated data.
How to Request Deletion: Parents can delete their account directly within the app by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete Account. Parents can also request account deletion and associated data deletion through our account deletion webpage: https://kidmonk.github.io/delete-account.html. If you need assistance, contact us at kidmonk@geekypi.co.in.
Upon deletion, all parent and child data is immediately and permanently removed from our active databases. (Note: Encrypted automated database backups are automatically purged on a standard 7-to-30 day cycle).
6. Data Security
We employ industry-standard security measures, including encryption and secure backend infrastructure, to protect the data we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration.
